Third Time's a Charm

We've officially experienced the natural disaster trifecta. First there was this. Then, there was this. Now, there's this.

Ike paid our city a destructive visit yesterday, leaving us surrounded by broken trees and without power. He also left us with a good reminder of how dependent we are on the sustaining hand of our God.

We are still without power at home, as are many others across Kentucky, but we are grateful that things are not nearly as bad as they could be. The governor is saying we could be without power for as much as 10-14 days, but hopefully that won't be the case.

Stay tuned for pictures if the roads near us haven't been cleared by the time I get around to taking them. Unfortunately, we won't have photos from Valhalla, where the Ryder Cup will be taking place in Louisville this week. That would only have been possible if John had been selected for tickets through the random ticket assigner.

But that's ok, because we are too busy with our favorite new activities (reading books by flashlight, waiting in line at jam-packed restaurants, and throwing away spoiled food) to care.

Actually, this forced simplicity is pretty fun. Not to mention the fact that we are practically pioneers now.
