My 100th Post!!! First Person to Comment Gets a Calfskin Leather ESV Bible!!!

Not really . . .

I did want to write about the fear of man, however. The Bible talks a lot about fearing God. This is something that we should do, and it is something that every Christian does, even if imperfectly.

The Bible also talks about the fear of man. This is not good for two reasons: 1) It keeps us from fearing God, 2) It means that we need and use people in an unhealthy way, and therefore we are not free to love them (while fearing God alone).

Ed Welch has written a great book that I will continue to come back to - When People Are Big and God is Small: Overcoming Peer Pressure, Codependency, and the Fear of Man.

The guys over at 9Marks Ministries have an interesting and helpful article on this; I enjoyed it . . . http://9marks.org/CC/article/0,,PTID314526%7CCHID598014%7CCIID2448356,00.html

Sorry to have rushed that first comment but I felt I had to beat the crowd, you know.

Always good to ponder the fear of man/fear of God introspection. Congrats on #100.

BTW, can you believe that I will soon own the ESV Study Bible, Reformation Study Bible, John MacArthur Study Bible, and NIV Study Bible? Where did I go wrong, John? What happened to my pride in resisting the lure of the evangelical publisher and retailer market?

I still have my Scofield Study Bible from Bible 350 at Liberty. Without it, I have no reason to be a pre-tribber.
