So, in a few hours, my (new) hometown Louisville Cardinals will take on my beloved UNC Tarheels. I recently wrote about the prospect of this game and it caused no little stir throughout cyberspace (see below, where massive amounts of people weighed in).
In hindsight, let me say that, after spending last weekend in NC, I realized that, although I like the team where I now live - U of L - the Heels are indeed my lifetime team. As the Tarheels already took care of the U of L girls this afternoon, I will look for the same tonight. I'm sure it will be a pretty good game.
Prediction: Heels win, 78-68.
Oh yeah - Davidson is totally legit, as anyone can now see. Their guards are just incredible. I hope they keep it going.

The Tourney
Well, it's NCAA Basketball tourney time. I filled out my bracket earlier today. I must say that I am surprised at how life has progressed for me in recent years. That is, I am such a Louisvillian now that I almost wouldn't mind it if Louisville knocked off the Heels in the tournament. Don't get me wrong, I am still a very big Heels fan, as I've always been; yet, I have grown attached to the local favorite.
One reason for my enjoyment of Louisville b-ball is that I think Pitino is an excellent coach, and I would love to see him win a title with Louisville. They have an incredible team this year and could go very far if everything goes just right.

Scotty's First Birthday
[kristie here]
Scotty the baby elephant turns one year old on Tuesday, and we went to the Zoo in the pouring rain on Saturday to watch his first birthday celebration. They had Scotty do a few tricks, and then they actually let us see him up close in his barn.
While in the barn, we ended up standing next to Scotty's primary keeper, who told us some interesting stuff, like....
- Scotty weighed 300-some pounds when born and now weighs about 1,000 lbs
- there are only 600 elephants in the U.S.
- 300 of those are in zoos, 300 others are privately owned (circuses, etc.)
- an elephant pregnancy lasts two years
- part of Scotty's food includes whole oranges and sweet potatoes
Here are two videos of Scotty's little birthday party. In the second one, Scotty (on the far left) and the other two elephants go down on their hands and knees, get up and take a bow, and then Scotty walks around them. He's adorable!

The Real Phantom of the Opera
[kristie here]
John and I saw the Phantom of the Opera at the Kentucky Arts Center in January and loved it. If you are familiar at all with Phantom, check out this hilarious video starring Will Ferrell as the Phantom.
